Update
HESSEQUA NEWS - Firelines on the south-west (north of Heidelberg), as well as south-east (north-west of the Korinterivier Dam & MTO Forestry Plantations) were extremely active today after being fueled by windy and hot weather conditions.
The wind direction changed in our favour and blew from the south. The wildfire then burned on a backburn, pushing slowly towards farms. This allowed ground crews and a landowner to clear around infrastructure as well as implementing fire breaks on the south-west.
The south-eastern fire line is seen as a threat to the plantations, as well as surrounding farms.
Crews will monitor the spread of the wildfire throughout the night and where accessible form firebreaks and perform offensive firefighting.
Light rain is forecasted for early tomorrow morning and this will help firefighters in mopping-up operations.
Ground crews of Cape Nature, Working on Fire, as well as GRDM of Riversdale and George are thanked for their efforts today.
