HESSEQUA NEWS - The wildfire is predominantly active on the north and south-west parts of the Gysmanshoek Pass, north of Heidelberg. West on the ridge, the wildfire is closing in on the Overberg District border.
Crews will be deployed on the north-west fireline to combat the threat to the farms towards Brandrivier.
The greatest concern lies to the south-west within the Garden Route district boundary with several farms that could be under threat with forecasted weather not favorable for today, with very hot temperatures predicted. The current wind direction is north-east and pushing the wildfire very close to trigger lines.
The immediate landowner will also implement further fire breaks on the south-west side. This area will be prioritised today with all objectives set to prevent infrastructure damage.
A very small hotspot is also active on the eastern fireline, but not close to any infrastructure.
Deployed resources include Garden Route District Municipality's Fire Services, Cape Nature, Hessequa Municipality and Working on Fire.
Aerial resources are placed on standby.
