STILBAAI NEWS - Spar Stilbaai was awarded Western Cape Store of the Year at the Spar Group's recent regional members' meeting. 

The small coastal town of Stilbaai might also be known as the Bay of the Sleeping Beauty, but there is nothing sleepy about this local gem.

Co-owner Peet van Staden said that even though they operate to the highest standards, he did not expect their store to win. "This came as a total surprise, and I must say it feels fantastic," he exclaimed after he and business partner, André van Wyk had accepted the award from Spar MD for the Western Cape and Namibia, Mario Santana.

Peet is extremely proud of the store's achievement, which he attributes to the attitude among their staff and the excellent service offering. "This is a friendly store. We have great service departments, the Fruit and Veg and Butchery are especially good." 

Spar Stilbaai serves a diverse community - locals, surrounding areas and, in season, holidaymakers. "It's a very difficult market to target." He believes consistency of service and range is key.

"All customers enjoy shopping in a clean and neat environment with great friendly service and sufficient stock at all times. This is the minimum we try to provide for our customers and I feel we hit the target most of the time." It certainly seems they do. The Spar flag flies proudly in Stilbaai.
