STILBAAI NEWS - A total of 32 players from Stilbaai, Pretoria, Riversdale, East London, Potchefstroom, Namibia and as far afield as Leeds in the United Kingdom, joined in a fun and competitive three-day squash tournament at the one and only squash court in Palingat Oord, Stilbaai, from 27 to 29 December.
The winner, who has held the title for four years in a row, was the exceptionally talented Reuel Videler, now number 30 in South Africa and ranked internationally.
Johnathan Abrahams from Riversdale put up a brave fight in the final, which was world class. The junior section was won by Neil Visser, the ladies' by Anine Roux and the men's plate by Morné Maré from Stilbaai.
The prizes were presented by the honourable guest from the UK PSA (Professional Squash Association), foundation director Adriana Olaya, who also played in the tournament.
It was good to see whole families entering in the main section, including the ladies and juniors.
"Thank you to all our sponsors. Without them this tournament would not have been such a great success," said Jacqui Kromberg, one of the organisers.
The juniors: Raphael Videler (East London), Daniel du Preez, Eben Vorster, Neil Visser and Sebastian Visser (all from Stilbaai).
