HEIDELBERG NEWS - Ancha Adams from the Heidelberg Karate Kyousei dojo, represented the Western Cape province at the Karate South Africa (KSA) Elite championships.
The event took place at the Tongaat Indoor Sports Hall, Tongaat, in Durban on Friday 22 June.
Adams, a 13-year old Protea karateka, won bronze in Kumite in her division, +47kg, Girls 12-13 years. This was her first official championship she competed in after an MRI scan earlier this year. The scan showed evidence of focal periphyseal oedema (FOPE) that is related to growth plates that are in the process of closing.
She is currently undergoing physiotherapy and is also preparing for the KSA League 1 championships that will take place 13 and 14 July in Stellenbosch.
