NATIONAL NEWS - All three goals of the contest came in the first period with The Brazilians taking a 2-0 lead through goals from Hlompho Kekana and Katlego Mashego.
The hosts responded just before half-time with a score of their own to set up what should have been an intriguing second half. But the second 45 minutes failed to produce another goal as the visitors claimed a well-earned three points.
With the victory, Sundowns move back into second spot on the log with 51 points, three ahead of third-placed Orlando Pirates on 48.
For Stars, meanwhile, the loss on their home turf was ill-timed as they remain 13th on the log with 31 points and two games left in their season.
Tlou Segolela weaved his way into the Sundowns box in the fourth minute, before reeling off a shot which was deflected away for a corner.
On the quarter hour mark, Sundowns hit the lead. Stars lost the ball in their half and Kekana did not need a second invitation, as he ran towards the box and on the edge of the area unleashed a trademark thunderous effort which rocketed into the corner of goal.
