GARDEN ROUTE CRICKET NEWS - The Six-Gun Grill SWD cricket team’s ambition to win its first trophy in a Cricket South Africa competition would be realised.
They are playing Eastern Cape Inyathi in the final round of the Cricket South Africa Division 2 Four-Day competition. The match started yesterday, Thursday 3 March.
The SWD batting unit needs to fire on all cylinders. SWD are the log leaders on 97.58, followed by Northern Cape Heat on 95.68.
The Heat host Mpumalanga Rhinos in their last round match in Kimberley. SWD overtook the Heat with an impressive victory two weeks ago.
A drawback for SWD was the departure of their run-scoring machine, Leus du Plooy, who is joining Derbyshire for their pre-season preparation. He was replaced by Hanno Kotze. All-rounder Onke Nyaku wa still unavailable due to a hamstring injury.
