GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT SPORT NEWS - The Six-Gun Grill SWD cricketers are playing a crucial fixture against Eastern Storm in Cricket South Africa Division 2.
The four-day match at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn started yesterday, Thursday 18 November.
After a frustrating draw against the Mpumalanga Rhinos two weeks ago, SWD captain Jean du Plessis and his team are fighting for an outright victory against the Benoni-based Eastern Storm.
SWD cannot afford a slip against the visitors and a clinical performance is crucial to get their campaign back on track.
The selectors made two changes to the starting eleven that played against the Rhinos. Du Plessis, who was unavailable due to exams, is back at the helm, in the number three batting position.
Renaldo Meyer recovered from an injury and is the much-needed spark in the bowling attack.
Du Plessis and Meyer were included in place of Travis Ackermann and Herchell America.
The team: Yaseen Valli, Blade Capell, Jean du Plessis (captain), Leus du Plooy, Jhedli van Briesies, Onke Nyaku, André Malan, Sean Whitehead, Renaldo Meyer, Marcello Piedt, and Sintu Majiza. The 12th man is Herschel America.
