GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT CRICKET NEWS - In a frustrating four days from the viewpoint of the Six Gun Grill SWD team, bad light, rain and a leak in the irrigation system cost it a victory against the Mpumalanga Rhinos.
The contest ended in a draw on Monday, 8 November after bad light ruined SWD's chances for an outright victory.
The first day of the match was called off when the wet patch on the outfield that emerged that morning did not allow any play.
When play eventually got going on the second day the Rhinos, who were 142/5 at lunch, got of the hook and posted 311. SWD responded with 209 and thereafter started their fightback, dismissing the visitors for only 104.
Their run chase of 207 on the final day got well under way but at 166/2 after only 26 overs bad light had the final say.
The SWD opening pair, Blayde Capell (55 and 72) and Yaseen Valli (86* and 59), impressed with the bat.
