Update
HESSEQUA NEWS - Councillors Grant Riddles and Andrew Stroebel were unanimously elected executive mayor and speaker respectively during the inauguration of Hessequa Municipality's newly-elected council.
The event took place at the Civic Centre in Riversdale on Thursday, 11 November.
It is the second term for both councillors, who also served in the same positions during their first term. The election of the deputy executive mayor was postponed until further notice. Councillors Betsie van Noordwyk (DA) and Chris Taute (ANC) were elected to represent the municipality on the Garden Route District Council.
Hessequa Municipal Council consists of 17 councillors, of whom nine are ward councillors and eight proportional representative (PR) Councillors.
The council makes decisions in terms of legislation, such as by-laws and policies, as well as in terms of executive functions such as operations, projects and issues of finance.
The municipal council consists of the Democratic Alliance (DA), African National Congress (ANC), Patriotic Alliance (PA) and Freedom Front Plus (FF+) representatives.

- Ward 5: Cllr Abraham Daniels (ANC); PR Cllr Lisby Pieterse (ANC)
- Ward 6: Cllr Nadia Joseph (ANC); PR Cllr Lilian February (ANC)
- Ward 7: Cllr Betsie van Noordwyk (DA); PR Cllr Ivan Trevor Mangaliso (PA)
- Ward 8: Cllr Chris Taute (ANC); PR Cllr Johannes Hartnick (FF+)
- Ward 9: Cllr Sonja le Roux (DA).
