NATIONAL NEWS - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has filed a Constitutional Court application to intervene in the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)’s impeachment case against President Jacob Zuma.
The United Democratic Movement (UDM) and the Congress of the People (Cope) are already backing the case to force Speaker Baleka Mbete to initiate impeachment proceedings against Zuma for his conduct related to the Nkandla scandal.
The DA says it believes it can provide new evidence that can assist the court.
In March, the EFF initiated impeachment proceedings after the Constitutional Court found Zuma did not uphold the Constitution when he failed to implement the Public Protector’s remedial action that he repays some of the money spent on security upgrades at his Nkandla home.
The DA says after reviewing the arguments made by the other applicants in the EFF case, it can provide new information.
