SUURBRAAK NEWS - At last Suurbraak missionary village (1812), 20km east of Swellendam on the R324, is ready to shake off its reputation as a drive-through town and become a tourist destination.
It is also prepared to share with visitors why earlier pioneers and traders called it !Xairu - beautiful or paradise: Its scenic town, the Buffeljachts river and Tradouw pass with the majestic Langeberg mountain range towering overhead.
No wonder it is called 'The Waterfall Capital of the Overberg'.
An intense effort by the local ATKV led to the construction of four hiking trails, open all year round with financial support from SanlamSky and no less than 16 accommodation venues are now available for nature lovers and those who want to get away from it all - whether you are energetic or just want to rest.
On Saturday 21 October the ATKV Suurbraak Adventure Day with stalls, music and entertainment will be held.
Hiking, trail running and biking (non-competitive) through the magnificent scenery of the Buffeljags tiver and Langeberg.
Enter on the day from 07:00. Runners and riders receive goody bags.
