STILBAAI NUUS - Stilbaai Karate Club, one of the smallest clubs in the area, earned a total of 56 medals at the recent Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karatedo Kyokai (OGKK) National Championships held on 12 May in Stellenbosch.
The club consists of learners of the local Bertie Barnard Primary School as well as learners from Volschenk Primary and Langenhoven High School in Riversdale, home schoolers from Albertinia and adults.
According to the instructor, Brenda Neate, the dedication of the parents and the commitment of the youngsters play an important role in their success.
The next step is the Africa Gojurya Championship on 21 and 22 September in Stellenbosch, which are the trials for the World Gojurya Karate Federation Championship in Malaysia in 2019.
