RIVERSDALE NEWS - Meals on Wheels Community Services is hosting its 7th annual Extreme Ride for Hunger Cycle Tour from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and briefly stopped over in Riversdale to hand over food parcels to the elderly and stationery packs for special needs schools.
The goals of the event are to raise funds and to create awareness of the work done by the organisation in trying to alleviate hunger and poverty in South Africa.
The team of cyclists was assisted on the 1 400km route by a team of support staff who were responsible for directing cyclists on the road with lead cars, providing water to cyclists along the way, and also providing medical care.
Food parcels were also handed out to the elderly in Riversdale.
