KNYSNA NEWS & VIDEO - The death toll due to the raging fires in Farleigh near Karatara rose to eight last night.
Southern Cape police spokesman Capt Malcolm Pojie says two women and six children under the age of 12 have died.
The fire at Rheenendal is also posing a threat to lives and property and residents are being evacuated.
In George the situation is under control. Strong winds are blowing in the Southern Cape, but rain is predicted for George and Knysna.
GO GEORGE buses will be assisting with evacuating the area today, 30 October.
