STILBAAI NUUS - This coastal town has produced another writer. Louwena (Louwtjie) Kotzé launches her first book An Affair NOT to Remember on 11 November at the Lions Hall at 18:30.
This is a true story of faith and perseverance.
Louwtjie was born in Bloemfontein and raised in Witpoortjie, Roodepoort, Gauteng. Her husband, Andrew, grew up in the same area and they started dating and got married in 1976 when they were both 21 years old.
Louwtjie was teaching and raising four daughters, Andrew held down two jobs and later had his own business.
At some point, they realised that they were living separate lives and did not communicate much, except for talking about kids, jobs and assets. In 1995, Louwtjie and her family's lives fell apart when Andrew announced that he wanted a divorce.
He had been very unhappily married for some time and had started a relationship with another woman.
When the bomb dropped and they were separated, someone gave her a little notebook and said that she had to write down what God said every day. So she did, writing down every Bible verse she got during her quiet times every day, as well as everything that happened each day.
One of the first verses she wrote down, was that "Jacob shall return to his land." She had to stubbornly believe that Andrew would return, even though they were eventually legally divorced in June 1997.
"This book is the story of how God saved a marriage even after divorce. I hope that our story will help others to get hope and to realise that God still does miracles," she said.
