STILBAAI NEWS AND VIDEO - Spar Stilbaai was awarded the national Spar Store of the Year award at the group's annual convention in Sun City last week.
Peet van Staden, who co-owns the store with André van Wyk, said he is extremely proud of the store's outstanding achievement.
"This came as such a wonderful surprise. This is the highest recognition a store can get. After hearing that we were the best in the Western Cape, it's a great feeling to think we are now the best in the country."
He attributes their success to the attitude among their staff and the excellent service offering.
"Solid, genuinely friendly staff that are committed to hard work, long hours, especially in season, and a hands-on approach from management is our recipe for success."
They approach business with passion. "We do what we love and love what we do." He adds that everyone works as a team, working towards the goals they set themselves. They are already looking at how they can set the bar even higher going forward. All this is for their valued customers.
"After arriving back at the store from our convention, I asked my staff to each write down two things that they felt we could improve on and we have already started working on some of those suggestions."
Spar Stilbaai serves a diverse community – locals, surrounding areas and, in season, holidaymakers. Peet believes that consistency of service and range is key.
"All customers enjoy shopping in a clean and neat environment with great friendly service and sufficient stock at all times. This is the minimum we try to provide for our customers and I think we hit the target most of the time."
They certainly do. Affirmation lies in this award.
