ALBERTINIA NEWS - Hessequa Surf Lifesaving club and Riversdale Ambulance services presented a Watersmart Education Program at Oker Primary School on Friday 24 August.
With the generous assistance of their national sponsor, General Tire and the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, Lifesaving South Africa are able to visit schools to present a safety education presentation to learners.
Watersmart is a free national program presented by their team of trained lifeguard facilitators and 'Resci' their Lifesaving South Africa drowning prevention mascot. Their target age group is school children in Gr 4, however, is also suitable for Gr 5 to 6 learners.
Key focus areas of this interactive program are to make children more aware of water safety, how to live/play safely near water and to promote the role of lifeguards and lifesaving in general within the region.
Each learner received a complimentary copy of the class reader and 'Watersmart' fun activity workbook, as well as a water safety educational flyer. If you require any further information contact either their regional representative or the national office on watersmart@lifesaving.co.za and admin@lifesaving.co.za.
