STILBAAI NEWS - Lilian Kattan (7th dan), head of the international organisation in Africa, Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate and her son, George Kattan (4th dan) conducted a Gashuku intensive training seminar on 13 and 14 April.
The seminar covered all aspects of traditional, as well as sport karate wherein 'traditional' refers to the study to attain various levels of grading, as well as develop the skill of competitive karate as is applicable for the ultimate goal of Olympic competition.
Some members were awarded their next grading (belt).
The next event for which this weekend's preparation is done is the national championship in Stellenbosch on 12 May.
It will be the first round of identification for team selections to compete in the Goju Ryu World Championship in Kuala Lumpur in 2019.
