HESSEQUA SPORT NEWS - The 5th annual Hessequa Heritage Trail Run takes place on Saturday, 25 September and despite all the challenges due to the global pandemic, the organisers are looking forward to yet another great event.
The event is hosted in accordance with Covid-19 regulations and participants in the 16 km Heritage Trail Run as well as the 5 km Mini Heritage Trail Run can look forward to a safe, enjoyable event.
Those trail runners and walkers who participate in the 16km event, will again start at the tidal pool in Jongensfontein and will follow the scenic route along the coast to finish at the Stilbaai Tourism Bureau. Participants in the 5km Mini Heritage Run start at the ancient fish traps at Skulpiesbaai Nature Reserve to do the last five km to the finish line.
The trail takes both groups through the spectacular forest of the reserve as well as the fairy forest close to the finish while runners and walkers will also go past the harbour and colourful beach houses.
This trail also rewards participants with wide-angle views over the Goukou River mouth as they follow the paved pathway next to the river.
The more adventurous participants will be able to experience 8 km with the sound of the crashing waves in their ears and an overload of beauty while negotiating the trail along the coast after an easy start that includes about 3 km through Jongensfontein.
Entrants will run 8 km next to the ocean.
All finishers will receive a special medal while there will be stalls with lots to eat and buy as well as live music and entertainment for the kids at Stilbaai Tourism.
Participants are encouraged to enter online to minimise personal contact.
Entries and registration can also be done at Stilbaai Tourism on Friday, 24 September from 14:00 to 17:00 as well as on Saturday morning, 25 September from 06:30 at the Stilbaai Community Hall from where the shuttles will leave for the starting points.
