GOLF NEWS - George junior golfers featured prominently in the Linger Longer Invitational at Eatonton in Georgia, an NCAA Division 1 tournament.
Five local boys competed in this event with two finishing in the top ten: Christo Lamprecht (5th) and Barend Botha (9th). The other three placed as follows: Ben van Wyk (16th), NJ Botha (32nd) and Alex van Wyk (65th).
Adam McKinlay, head of sport at McKinlay Read in George, told George Herald their performances and achievements serve to underline just what an international golfing hotspot George and the Garden Route are.
"This small region continues to produce golfers who are internationally competitive and also shows the tremendous tertiary education opportunities that exist for youths in our area. All of these players are attending US colleges on golfing scholarships. This truly is a noteworthy achievement and should make everyone in die Southern Cape immensely proud."
