CRICKET NEWS - In a disappointing weekend for the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers women's team, Haroline Rhodes and her troops lost against the DP World Lions in both the limited-over and Twenty/20 fixtures that were played at the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday and Sunday, 8 and 9 October respectively.
In the limited over match the Badgers had the Lions in trouble at 100/6, but the home team recovered to 206 (all out). Jane Winster (3/32) and Michaela Andrews (3/53) each bagged three wickets.
The target was reduced due to bad light and lightening and with the Badgers at 88/6 (after 20 overs) they were 36 runs behind on the revised Duckworth/Lewis target.
The Lions posted 164/4 in the T20 match. Despite a half-century by Tazmin Brits (52), the Badgers ended on 110/5 for a 54-run defeat.
