NATIONAL NEWS - The USGS National Earthquake Information Center has confirmed that two earthquakes yesterday (Sunday 28 January) struck in the same region of the Atlantic Ocean around 1300 miles from the southern coast of South Africa.
The first 6.6 magnitude earthquake was at 16:03 (UTC) and the second – a 5.0 magnitude earthquake – was two hours later at 18:09 (UTC).
Both were at a depth of 10km and are not expected to cause any damage to the SA coastline.
No tsunami warnings have been issued.
