The suspects, aged 32 and 35 years old, were stopped around 09:00 after police spotted a suspicious looking Nissan Qashqai. “With the search that ensued, they found 48 bags containing 1 000 Mandrax tablets each, concealed in different panels of the vehicle. They immediately confiscated the illegal drugs and arrested the two men, who are from Sandton and Gugulethu respectively. It is believed that the illegal drugs were meant for distribution in the Western Cape.”
Both suspects are detained at the George Police holding cells.
Provincial management has put a stern warning to potential drug peddlers to refrain from transporting these drugs as they will be caught and brought to justice, as these arrests are testimony of.
