1 in 3 South Africans are drug users

Dagga is used by many drug users.

NATIONAL NEWS - One in every three South Africans is a drug user.

This is according to ER24 who is raising awareness during Drug Awareness Week from June 24 to 28.

In the last ten years, drug use has risen to 25% in the country. ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw says it is important that people take note of drug abuse and use since it is so prevalent in the country.

Rossouw says 60% of crimes committed in South Africa are drug related. He says in the last month over 30% of high school learners have used a drug of some sort.
