GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - In a statement issued by the Garden Route District Municipality, on 21 January at 20:00, one wildfire is still being attended to and the other is declared extinguished.
1. Molenrivier, Louvain (concluded)
The wildfire is extinguished. Mopping up and first-phase monitoring were concluded. The scene was handed over to the landowner for further monitoring. No injuries were reported, no structures were damaged, and no livestock or orchards were affected.
2. Rooiberg Mountain Fire
This wildfire currently has lines spreading northeast, west, as well as north. Ground crews of CapeNature suppressed accessible lines today, however, the majority of active lines remain inaccessible. The Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) firefighting crew assessed the closest properties/farms and found both to not be at risk currently.
