Update

HESSEQUA NEWS - The wildfire was successfully controlled early last night,16 December, with the eastern and western flanks now contained.

 Firefighting teams focused on mopping up operations and securing accessible lines throughout the night. A burnout was also conducted on the south-westerly flank to strengthen the firebreak created earlier.

Mopping-up operations will continue throughout the day. There were no flare-ups reported overnight.

Through these collaborative efforts, lives and infrastructure have been kept safe.

The firefighting efforts have been collaborative, involving GRDM Fire & Rescue Services, Hessequa Municipality Fire & Rescue Services, Working on Fire, local farmers, the SCFPA, and GRDM Fire Volunteers in Hessequa.
