Mars said that Prof John Willemse inspired the donation. "He is an advocate for making Hessequa green and encourage community involvement. By becoming involved in projects which promotes the removal of alien trees and encourages job creation, we all play a part in creating a green environment for generations to come."
"The municipality is making an unprecedented statement in terms of its commitment to care for the environment. With September being Arbor month, this contribution is welcome and will this iniative greatly impact the Hessequa environment," Susan Geldenhuys (media spokesperson: Hessequa Municipality) explained.
The trees - 40 Essenhout (Ekebergia capensis) and 2 700 Olienhout (Olea Europaea sp African) trees -were collected from the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry in Wolseley.
