EDEN DISTRICT NEWS - Firefighters have been battling various fires in the Eden District.
Herewith the latest update from Eden District Municipality:
Mooihoek in the Oudtshoorn area
5 Houses, 1 big store room and 12 wooden structures situated In a valley are in the line of the fire.Thick bush with a combination of Pine, Bluegum and Wattle etc.
The fire is, however, approaching slowly, with a backburn.
Robinson Pass
MTO backburn from last night to 01:00 this morning from Robinsons Pass to farm Habitat (over 2km) a success.
The Robinson Pass is open for traffic.
Habitat
From Habitat to Schaap plaas the back burn will be continued by Cape Nature, to close out/burn out the mountain area. Farmers will assist from Schaap plaas.
Plantations
68-man ground crew will do mopping up and extinguish some still visible flames.
Western line toward Bonniedale on Cape Nature property
2 Working on Fire ground teams deployed this morning to extinguish hot spots and do mopping up.
Weather conditions are favourable with south / south easterly wind which is very moderate at this stage.
