RIVERSDALE NEWSFLASH - Meghann and Wikus Louwrens, volunteers of the Santa Shoebox Project in Riversdale handed gifts out to learners of two rural schools in this district on Thursday 11 October.
The Louwrens couple are kind-hearted people who give their time, energy and expertise without remuneration, just to see a smile on a child’s face.
The Santa Shoebox Project originated in Cape Town 2006 with a humble 180 shoeboxes.
In 12 years it has grown in leaps and bounds, with the number of boxes donated reaching a total of 762 594.
The shoeboxes are distributed to more than 1 000 recipient facilities each year, through more than 60 satellites around South Africa and Namibia.
