WESTERN CAPE NEWS - Annually social workers across the globe are called upon to observe and celebrate World Social Work Day, declared by the International Federation of Social Workers to honour the millions of social workers and social auxiliary workers who dedicate themselves with passion, to make a difference in our world.
There are 13 categories of social work excellence 2018. In Western Cape, the category Excellent Social Auxiliary worker was won by Lesley Hartnick from Slangrivier for going beyond his call of duty.
Hartnick was born on 6 December 1982 in Riversdale. He grew up in Slangrivier under extremely difficult circumstances and poverty. Slangrivier is a small disadvantaged rural town situated between Heidelberg and Swellendam.
He did not let his circumstances hold him back in life, but instead, he excelled to the best of his ability. He got married eight years ago to Victoria. They have three daughters aged 8, 7 and 2.
He still lives in Slangrivier and works at the Department of Social Development in Riversdale since 2006 as Social Auxiliary Worker.
Hartnick is very passionate about his work and always go the extra mile to deliver excellent quality service to all his clients.
He is loyal, hardworking, disciplined and has excellent communication skills. He promotes good relationships with people of all races and creeds.
