GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Five athletes from Eden Judo took part in the National Schools Tournament during the holiday at Wits University in Gauteng.
The novice tournament was held on the first day, 6 October, with Eden judokas taking podium places:
- Bo van Schalkwyk (gold),
- Karla Oelofse (gold),
- Christopher Pienaar (silver),
- Renier van Jaarsveld (silver) and
- Zoe de la Croix (bronze).
The same athletes competed in the advance tournament the following day, 7 October, and the results were equally excellent:
- Zoe de la Croix (gold),
- Christopher Pienaar (gold),
- Karla Oelofse (gold) and
- Renier van Jaarsveld (bronze).
On 8 October, at the same venue, three Eden judokas competed in the last national ranking event of the year with the following results:
- Lizette Kalo (silver),
- Aden Cloete (4th) and
- Quinton Jansen (5th).
Lizette Kalo, Quinton Jansen and Muneebah Ruiters also worked as technical officials, and Aden Cloete as referee at both the national schools and national ranking events.
Coach Lilian Steyn and Eden Judo are very proud of these athletes and wish them all the best for the national trials at the beginning of 2023.
