RIVERSDALE NEWS - The Southern Cape Fire Protection Association (SCFPA) has secured grant funding from the Provincial Disaster Management Centre (PDMC) to strengthen firefighting operations and improve fire management across the region.
Thanks to this support, the SCFPA has been able to purchase essential firefighting equipment, which will be placed in high-risk areas and made available to SCFPA members.
These members have developed strong ties with the association over the years, ensuring the equipment will be used effectively where it is most needed.
The newly acquired tools include:
1 x Econo-bakkie sakkie unit (complete with pipes and nozzles)
5 x Fire beaters
2 x Rake hoes
The SCFPA reminds users that the equipment should be stored securely when not in use and kept in good working condition.
Although the SCFPA retains ownership of the gear, proper care and maintenance are crucial to ensure it's always ready.
This initiative forms part of the SCFPA's ongoing efforts to strengthen local fire protection and reduce the devastating effects of wildfires in the Southern Cape.
By equipping communities with the right tools and resources, the association hopes to better safeguard people, property and the environment.
Residents and SCFPA members can contact the association for more details on equipment use and ongoing fire prevention programs.
