Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The N2 near Mossel Bay between the Langeberg Mall off-ramp and Dana Bay, direction Cape Town is still closed (23:30) due to heavy smoke and limited visibility.
Meanwhile, the South African Weather Service has issued a warning for damaging winds in the Mossel Bay area with a prediction of wind gusts of up to 39km per hour.
This is expected to last until tomorrow, Wednesday morning at around 06:00.
Traffic officials remain deployed in Island View, Vakansieplaas, Aalwyndal, and Voorbaai to assist with safe movement and ongoing diversions where necessary.
Meanwhile the Mossel Bay Municipality says the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) remains active to coordinate firefighting, evacuation, and humanitarian support across affected areas.
The municipality says fire crews from Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services, Garden Route District Municipality, Hessequa and George Municipalities, and volunteer services are working under extremely challenging conditions due to strong winds and limited access.
Roleplayers including the acting Municipal Managers of both Mossel Bay Municipality and Garden District Municipality are currently meeting at the JOC to share information and give feedback.
