HEIDELBERG NEWS - A new station commander has been appointed at the local police station.
Lt. Col. Sipho Dyani started in his new position on 1 November.
He hails from Nqamakwe (former Ciskei) in the Eastern Cape. He joined the police service in 1991 when he enrolled as a student at the Hammanskraal Police College.
After graduating he did a term of duty in Gugulethu and Nyanga in Cape Town, before serving in KwaNokuthula in Plettenberg Bay. He was stationed in Riversdale from 2006-2013, followed by Great Brak River until his transfer to Heidelberg.
His message to the inhabitants of the town is: "Work together to bring down the crime rate - it is only by working together that success will be achieved in this regard."
