STILBAAI NEWS - Sfiso Mgoza (28) will make his third appearance in the periodic court on Friday 29 March on charges of theft.
Mgoza was apprehended on Thursday evening 14 March, by members of the Afriforum Goukou farm-watch and Stilbaai SAPS .
While members of the Goukou farm-watch was performing waylay duties in the Blombos, area they noticed a suspicious vehicle. This vehicle fitted the description of a vehicle suspected of being involved in Telkom copper cable theft. Details of the vehicle was circulated to all relevant role players and community WhatsApp groups in the rural area of Stilbaai during the previous week.
A citizens’ arrest was made by farm-watch members and the suspect was handed over to a member from the police, upon which an official arrest was made. Telkom copper cables with an estimate value of R184 000, weighing about 460 kg was recovered on the scene.
The suspect is currently in custody and the investigation continues.
