Anonymous - property owner, resident, Riversdale:
Letter from an anonymous property owner, resident, taxpayer in Riversdale.
Firstly, our constitution states no discrimination, yet you do this to only dogs. Why? Surely white mice, rats, hamsters, birds, chickens, racing doves, cats, pot-belly pigs, snakes, donkeys and horses should also have a licence, as they are all kept as pets in one way or another.
Now, I propose that Hessequa Municipality and CARS both expand their operations to include a cleaning service so that we, the aggrieved residents, will then contact them to do the following.
- Send a cleaning team to clean the cat's sh***t on our veranda, garden or vegetable patches.
- Disinfect the areas.
- Establish whose cat made the mess.
- Contact the owner and invoice them for the services.
If you are not prepared to do this, the logical thing would be to amend the laws about cat ownership because why should the aggrieved residents have to do all the above.
It has been stated that cats are territorial, but so are we. My property is my territory. Why should other residents' territory be used for cats' sanitation, mating purposes, and even the birth of illegal offspring?
