SPORT NEWS - The past weekend had a busy sport schedule. First there were games cancelled in the Rugby World Cup as Typhoon Hagibis made landfall in Japan. Three Rugby World Cup matches were cancelled; all the matches were cancelled counted as a draw.
The crucial game between Japan and Scotland that made headlines and was due to be cancelled was finally played on Sunday. This was a must win game for the Scottish team if they were to progress to the quarter finals of the event.
Japan went on to win the game 28 – 21 securing them their first spot in Rugby World Cup quarter final playoff vs South Africa. The match is scheduled to be played on Sunday this weekend at 12.15.
Locally we saw Bafana Bafana take on Mali in the Nelson Mandela Challenge at the NMB Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Sunday. Bafana Bafana went to win the match 2-1, thanks to a brilliant goal from Themba Zwane and a penalty from Dean Furman. Bafana Bafana’s next game is in Ghana against the Black Stars on the 14th of November.
Bafana Bafana then plays Sudan a few days later in South Africa. This was the first match under the Bafana Bafana’s new coach Molefi Ntseki and what a way to start his tenure. Molefi Ntseki took over the reins from Stuart Baxter who took our Bafana Bafana to the quarter finals of the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

Molefi Ntseki who hails from the Free State has had a great success with Amajimbos - South Africa’s national under-17 football team. He took the Amajimbos to the AFCON where the team ended up in second place to Mali. The team then qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2015 in Chile. He took Amajimbos to two Cosafa Cup finals in 2016 and 2018. He was the assistant coach for Stuart Baxter in the AFCON 2019 campaign.
