Responding to reports that he is hired lawyers to defend himself in an FBI probe, Jordaan has suggested the media is being used to fight political battles.
The African National Congress (ANC) mayoral candidate has also called it “apartheid-style tactics” by the DA aimed at discrediting him ahead of today’s Local Government Elections.
DA mayoral candidate Athol Trollip has described Jordaan’s suggestion the party’s using the media as paranoia.
Trollip says for Jordaan to clear his name, he has to break his silence on the matter.
“To call it ‘apartheid style-Wouter Basson tactics’ is typical of the ANC. Whenever they fail, they must find somebody to scapegoat, and it always happens to be the DA.”
But Jordaan has maintained his innocence and says it was Nelson Mandela who helped South Africa win the right to host the Fifa World Cup, and not bribery.
