FOOTBALL NEWS - The Thembalethu-based side Eastern City FC played a 0-0 draw against the champions of last season's Regional Men's League, Simunye FC, at the Lawaaikamp Stadium on Sunday afternoon, 12 February.
Both teams are trying to reach the top five in the Safa Eden Regional Men's League.
The game was marked by a high tempo and a few attempts to score on both sides, but ultimately disappointed as no goals were scored. In the first half Eastern City players Luzuko Sabelesiva and Sinalo Sikateni's attempts both missed the goal while the second half saw Nkosinathi Thomas of Eastern City missing an opportunity after a pass from Luzuko Sabelesiva.
On the Simunye side, Athenkosi Mahala delivered a fantastic pass inside the box, but his striker failed to net a goal.
A later shot by Mahala himself also missed the goal, while a long-range shot by Shane Booysen was blocked by Eastern City goalkeeper Anoxolo Mbaxa.
The teams each gained one point on the log.
