SWD's top performer of the 2017/18 season, Obus Pienaar, again entered a contract with SWD.
"Together with experienced players such as Neil Hornbuckle, Brendon Louw, Marcello Piedt and Letlotle Sesele, they will form the backbone of the team," said SWD Cricket CEO, Albertus Kennedy.
Tsepo Ndwandwa, who recently attended a spinners' camp in India, was also maintained.
Mthobeli Bangingdawo from Thembalethu, the first local player who emerged via the Black African programme, was also rewarded for his performances as well as the SA U19 player, Jean du Plessis.
New faces are Yamkela Oliphant, a wicketkeeper/batsman who emerged from the Fort Hare Academy in Alice and Kirwin Christoffels (from Eastern Province) - who represented the SA U19 team - and Stefan Tait (also from EP).
Two key players from the past season, Hanno Kotze (Boland) and Glenton Stuurman (Eastern Province), will leave the province.
Coach, Baakier Abrahams, will be in his second year of his three-year contract.
