Tutus withdraw charges against granddaughter

NATIONAL NEWS – Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and his wife Leah have withdrawn criminal charges against their granddaughter.

Last year,Tutu's wife Leah laid malicious damage to property charges against her granddaughter Ziyanda.

The matter stems from an incident last year in which Ziyanda reportedly smashed crockery at her grandparent's Cape Town home.

Ziyanda today entered courtroom 24 slowly with bloodshot eyes.

It appeared her makeup had also been smudged.

During the brief court appearance, her lawyer Anel du Toit explained a mediation process between her and her grandparents had been successful.
