NATIONAL NEWS - According to South African National Parks (SANParks), some of their parks will be closed on Friday to accommodate a planned protest.
The shutdown, which is reportedly over wage disputes, is only expected to affect the Kruger National Park; specifically the Paul Kruger Gate, where management will receive a memorandum of grievance from organised labour.
"To minimise any disruptions in the delivery of service to the guests due to the withdrawal of labour, SANParks would like to assure its guests that contingency plans are in place and will be activated with immediate effect in all parks," said spokesperson Reynold Thakhuli.
According to Thakuli, all other entrance gates to the Kruger will operate as normal.
"Guests are advised not to cancel any bookings as a consequence of a one-day planned protest action announced by the two unions," Thakuli advised.
He apologised for any inconvenience caused by the protest or possible withdrawal of labour in other parks across the country.
