NATIONAL NEWS - Juandre Kidson (25) and his wife Johanette, had to pull over on the Bakwena N4 with a punctured tyre after driving over rocks placed on the road by robbers.
The husband and wife and their nine-month-old baby were driving towards Brits in their Hyundai sedan around 20:00 when they drove over rocks near the R512/Randburg exit.
This was the second incident on Saturday after a man was shot and killed on the same road earlier.
According police spokesperson, Captain Aafje Botma, the man stopped to replace a punctured tyre and while he was busy, three men approached.
“The men, armed with firearms, overpowered the victim and shot him in the head and his wife in the hand. The suspects then robbed the man of his cellular phone. The baby was not hurt during the incident,” she says.
The victim was certified dead at the scene while his wife and baby were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
“Police are investigating a murder and attempted murder case and no one has been arrested at this stage.”
In a similar incident at 01:15 on Saturday, a man stopped on the highway near the M17/Ga-Rankuwa exit at De Wildt to change a tyre after driving over rocks.
Robbers appeared and shot and killed him.

In both incidents, the victims were robbed of their belongings.
Neighbourhood watches in Brits and De Wildt areas have issued urgent warnings this weekend for residents to avoid driving on the N4 highway during the night.
