“An intelligence-driven operation conducted by members of Cape Town border police led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Namibian man at CTIA [on Friday night at about 9.15pm] for being in possession of five uncut diamonds,” spokesman Lt-Col Andrè Traut said.
The man was waiting in the international departures hall and was about to leave for the United Kingdom when he was arrested.
The diamonds, of which the value was yet to be determined, were hidden in a small parcel concealed in the man’s underwear. He was due to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Traut said.
