Drug bust at Cape Town International Airport
NATIONAL NEWS - Police have launched an investigation after customs officials seized dried abalone worth R1 million and stopped a woman from smuggling heroin into the country.

The abalone was confiscated at Cape Town International Airport while the drugs were seized at the Beitbridge Border Post in Limpopo on Tuesday.

The dried abalone was hidden in a package, which had been declared as car parts destined for Hong Kong.

Customs officials were alerted to the suspicious consignment by airline staff.

The matter was handed over to police to investigate.
