NATIONAL NEWS AND VIDEO - There was chaos on the major roads in Pretoria this morning as the taxi strike intensified
Major highways and intersections were blocked and hundreds of commuters who rely on public transport were left stranded, having to hitch lifts from passing motorists.
Major roads that experienced problems included Atterbury Road, Justice Mahommed Road, Sefako Makgatho Drive and the R80 Mabopane highway.
Police were on the scene on the Mabopane highway to ensure the flow of traffic was not affected.
In Mamelodi taxi drivers blocked the main entrance and a police officer was reported to have been hit by a taxi at Masakhane bridge. He was taken to hospital with unconfirmed injuries.
