Sentencing proceedings against the woman convicted of kidnapping Zephany in the late 90s wrapped up in the Western Cape High Court today.
The Lavender Hill woman was found guilty of snatching the child from her sleeping mother's arms at Groote Schuur Hospital.
Investigating officer Lieutenant Colonel Mike Barkhuizen says the six babies were abducted from Groote Schuur, Tygerberg, Mitchells Plain, Worcester and Hottentots Holland hospitals.
Barkhuizen says the police service didn't have a specialised unit to deal with such offences at the time when Zephany was snatched.
