Frustrated by a court interdict preventing them from protesting inside the campus, about 90 workers, affiliated to National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union, took their fight to the international stage.
However, a swift negotiation with the security personnel and Cosatu averted a potential embarrassing situation.
The group was told to go to Cosatu’s Durban head office for a meeting with S’dumo Dlamini and Mzwandile Makwayiba, presidents of Cosatu and Nehawu, respectively.
Zuma was not made aware of the protest at the Durban International Convention Centre.
