The Club will be run and managed independently by its own committee under the BMW Clubs Africa umbrella.
Certain basic requirements are needed to start a BMW Club to ensure it is run and managed appropriately:
- Club members should pay an annual membership fee and attend events
- A club should have a minimum of 25 members to be registered formally
- The club needs a constitution drawn up and accepted at an annual general meeting
- An elected committee should run the club
The committee needs to meet regularly and is responsible for arranging events.
One of the responsibilities of the Treasurer is to prepare an annual financial statement for presentation at the AGM and to BMW Clubs Africa. The club identity should involve a name and badge.
BMW Clubs Africa would be the umbrella club for the region and have an agreement with BMW Germany to use the BMW trademark. A nominal annual fee per member will be payable to BMW Clubs Africa. More information on the constitution and other arrangements are available at www.bmwclubs-africa.org.za.
Local BMW dealer Lynn Schroeder Motorrad will remain independent of the Club, but will coordinate the first AGM and host the monthly meetings. The dealership or its staff members will not serve on the committee.
